First Dive into Blogging
Be yourself; Everyone else is already taken.
— Oscar Wilde.
As of Monday the 19th, I began writing this blog to document the process of the making of my Media Studies project. I began with finding a good platform to write my blog on. I decided to go with WordPress since it is one of the most versatile and customizable free website making platforms out there. It has more options for customization and more control over the nuances of the design to make it exactly how I want it to look.
However, there was some minor kinks that I have found working with WordPress. For one, it is not very new user friendly. There isn’t much of a tutorial on how the tools work or on what kind of options are given. That means that I will either have to look to outside sources for info or just figure it out on my own. And some of the simplest features can be a little vague in how to alter them. I had quite a bit of trouble editing the homepage to have the background image I wanted, which was this.
Now, I did decide to go with a different background image and ended up using this for a different purpose, but just figuring out how to edit the design of the page took some time and effort. All around, progress has been slow, and I am still working on the blog pages as it is, but hopefully I will gain a better understanding of the website and its features soon and progress can kick into high gear.
